Lynette Leach   06/Aug/2002:13:50:00
Dear Robert,
My name is Lynette Leach and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I work
with your father's cousin, Joel Plotnek, in the same office. Joel told
me about you so I checked out your story on the Internet. On 18th July
2002, my son, Mark, aged 26 years, had a heart transplant. He was born
with a double outlet right ventricle, hypoplastic left ventricle, and
left A-V valve hypoplasia. He has had numerous cardiac operations
during his life. I read about Bill Brawn being one of your doctors. I
remember him at The Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne when he was
a doctor there. Mark's wife, Renee, has also been in hospital for the
past 5 weeks, waiting for the birth of triplets. Mark came out of
hospital just 2 weeks after the transplant, and is recovering slowly
but well. Your story is amazing, and very inspiring. I believe that
children who endure suffering have special qualities that enrich their
lives and the lives of those around them. But I also cry for the dark
times that

Hi Robert, my name is Paddy Stimpson and I'm from Madison Connecticut,
United States. My dad found your site whilst browsing through a
Masonic site from the UK. I've got Juvenile Diabetes so I kind of know
what it's like to be a sick kid. If you get a chance please write. I
hope you're well. Best wishes!
Cheers!

Robert

I am yet another of your Daddy's "Brothers" although I have never
actually met him! I live in Liverpool - just up the motorway from you!

I really am so glad that I came across your site at your Daddy's
recommendation. A very dear friend of mine, Andrew, who is dead old
(almost thirty!) had a transplant seven or eight years ago and now
works with me at the University of Liverpool. We are both musicians.

My youngest daughter, Jo, is 13 and had her Batmitzvah last year. I
bet you are really looking forward to yours and we really look forward
to seeing all of the piccies on your web site. Have you started
working on it yet?

Anyway, I am sure that Hashem is keeping a special eye on you. Take
care, Robert, and just make sure that you look after your Mummy and
Daddy; it sounds like they have been just great during all of the
difficult times.

With love from the 'Bennett Family' in Liverpool.

Shabbat Shalom

Doug Welsh   09/Nov/2001:20:59:14
Hello Robert.

I'm still another of your Dad's "Brothers". I live in the City of
Halifax (not the one you will think of first) in Nova Scotia, over the
Atlantic Ocean in Canada. Your Dad suggested that taking a look at
your website might prove interesting, and he was right. (Dad's should
always be right, shouldn't they!)

I shall endeavour to avoid embarrassing you, like the rest of
your "uncles", but I must say this - You have had some impressive folk
come visit you when in hospital. All I get are family!

God Bless, and keep healthy!

Hi Robert,
You won't know me but I'm yet another Brother of your Dad's.
(Unbelievable - isn't it)

Best of luck with the barmitzvah :)

You are cheering a lot of people up with your bravery - little fella!!

Best wishes, Peter.

Peter Hart   09/Nov/2001:18:31:10
Hello Robert,

I'm a very distant acquaintance of your dad. You could say we're
brothers in arms :o)

Wow!! for a chap so young, you've had so many adventures haven't you.

You know................there are many people in this world that are
collecting their pensions who have not met so many caring and kind
people as you.

That makes you special.

But I 'spose you know that already. Bet mummy and Daddy do!!

BTW my son Michael (he's 8) is soooooooo jealous that you've met LOD
and Undertaker. I called him over when I saw the photo and he was so
supprised to see you with them. Michael has posters of both wrestlers
on his bedroom wall, along with all the others. Bet you have too!!

I must run now, you're such a brave boy Robert. You just wait. You'll
be taking you're own family to mummy and daddy's house some time soon
and looking back at you're special and unique adventures with a smile.

God bless

Peter Hart

David Shimmings   09/Nov/2001:16:52:43
Dear Robert,
At such a young age you have been through a lot and come up smiling!
You are an inspiration to many other people.
May God be with you. This was sent to me from Canada a few years ago
and I send it to you with my wishes for your continuing recovery.

God, our father, in a world where many are lonely, we thank you for
friendship.
In a world where many are dying, we thank you for our health.
In a world where many are despairing, we thank you for hope.
In a world that many find meaningless, we thank you for faith.
In a world where many are hungry, we thank you for our food.

David.

Also one of your Dads Brothers:-) Just popped by to have a look at your
terrific site.  I have six sons myself and we all looked at your pictures
and read your story together now we all agree what a wonderful boy you
are. Keep smiling.

Michael:-)

Paul Jephcott   09/Nov/2001:16:41:53
Robert

Have just read through your story and looked at the pictures. You're
one exceptional lad - really well done!!

I own up to also thoroughly enjoying looking at the photos of your Dad.
I went to school with him in the 1970s and haven't seen a photo of him
since then! Quite revealing !! ( I also think there was a younger
Plotnek - maybe an Uncle of yours - who was in the RAF section of the
cadet force also at the same school - but I may be wrong on this).

All the very best for the future Robert.

KR

friends. Best wishes, Alan.

your story was very touching

Paul Winter   04/Nov/2001:00:41:14
Dear Robert
Since I signed your Guest Book yesterday, I have now had an opportunity
to read through the whole story and to see the wonderful pictures. What
a lot of celebrities, including Her Majesty, have been privileged to
meet you ! Also I paid no regard to the surgeons, doctors, nurses and
other staff at Great Ormond Street and Birmingham Children's Hospital.
Without their skill and devotion, all the love you had from others, all
the prayers which were said by many - and all the determination which
you displayed, would not have resulted in the successful outcome that
is so. Bless and thank them all. With love. x Uncle Paul

Paul Winter   02/Nov/2001:23:09:24
Dear Robert
So many Guests above have commented on your bravery. When you come to
see me with Grandpa Sim, I no longer mention that matter as I know it
embarrasses you. You just wish to be treated like any other young boy.
That itself is a mark of your courage. Although we all know how much
you have been supported by your loving parents, your brothers and
grandpa Sim, in the main it is your own inner strength and your
determination to live which have been so vital in sustaining you. My
heart fills with joy when I see you laughing in glee at the TV
cartoons. Robert you ARE brave. It is a pleasure and a privilege that
I have been allowed to share a little of your life. God Bless You.
With love. "Uncle" Paul

Sally   01/Nov/2001:18:55:44
Hiya Robert !!
I came across your website whilst I was looking for info on Fern
Britton !!
I went to school with Fern and I have to say she is a lovely, lovely
lady !!
I went through some difficult times in my teens and Fern's parents let
me live with them in Chalfont St Giles (I was still at school)
She used to let me use her make-up and clothes and her Mum and Step-Dad
George always introduced me as their 'adopted' daughter.!!
It's not difficult to see why she's your favourite presenter !!
She's as nice in 'real-life' as she is on the TV isn't she? !!
Problem is, she's SOOO difficult to get in contact with now that she's
such a star !!
Maybe you could help me?!! ....promise I'll give you all the gossip on
the naughty things we did if you help me contact her !!
You're a very, very brave boy and you make me feel very humble.
Take good care of yourself and don't forget to be as naughty as Fern
and I were !! (you'll have to try very hard to beat us though!)
Hope you write back, I'd love to hear from you

Hi Robert,

I am a friend of Dads, but I haven't seen him in a while.

I knew you had been poorly but until viewing your site, I had no idea
quite how ill you have been.

I hope you continue to make good progress and I wish you every success
at school and happiness throughout a very long life.

Candi Anderson   24/Apr/2001:09:45:50
Dear Robert and family,
My name is Candi, I am now 27 years old and I too have had a heart
transplant. Your story made me cry because I have finally found someone
who was born with some of the heart defects that I had. I was born with
two chambers, transposition of the great arteries, V.S.D, pulmonary
stenosis, hypoplastic left ventricle and an underdeveloped left lung. At
the age of four I had a blalock shunt to redirect the blood flow in my
lungs. At fourteen I had what I call a patch up job to re-open a hole in
my heart to continue to allow the blood to flow from through my heart.
That operation lasted two years then followed another patch up job.
This also only lasted another two years with my third patch up at
eighteen. Things were fine for a while and then slowly I once again
started to go downhill, the specialist told me that my only chance was
to have a transplant and even then they weren't to sure as I was a one
of a kind. I had my transplant at twenty - two screaming and kicking

Hi Robert
Thanks for putting your story on the net, I was so pleased to see that
you are doing well!
We have a 9 year old boy, Michael, who needs a transplant sometime. He
has hypoplastic left heart, (I guess you have heard of all these weird
names!) some of his surgery has not been successful, so transplant is
the only thing left to try. He is fairly healthy at the moment though,
so we hope it won't happen for a while!
Stay healthy and may God keep you.
Colin

Hi, Robert, Hope you are doing well. You will probably not remember us,
but our son, Courtney Churchill was in BCh, Jan.1999, having a conduit
and valve fitted. He remembers you, and played with you.
He also is "transposition with VSD, and pulmonary stenosis." All
corrected now we hope. He is six years old.
If he is as brave and as strong as you, then we know he will do really
well. We have been following your progress closely, and we hope you
are doing really well, since your transplant.
Best wishes to you and all your family.
Love Courtney Churchill (and his mum and dad and sister Heidi.)

We are so pleased to hear what wonderful progress you are making. You
have certainly come a long way since we saw you last in Birmingham
earlier this year (Do you remember our visit?) Maybe one day you and
your family can make it 'down under' to Australia for a visit. We are
about to move into a new house that has lots of spare room to put up
any Plotneks who may happen to drop in from England. Our thoughts are
with you and we pray that your new heart will continue to grow strong.

I can see from your other messages that you love Balti food, so do I

DEAR ROBERT,
We've just found a great new balti house opposite the
Shereen Kadah so get your taste buds in training! Hospital food is
quite dull I expect and Bryn says you will like this one.

Adam has gone to Bristol University. He is staying in Halls of
Residence - he is sharing a flat with two other boys and two girls.

We are glad to see you are coming back to Birmingham and hopefully we
will see you very soon.

All the very best

With all our love

completely.

fantastic brothers.
