Robert Plotnek 21st December 1989 - 5th March 2003 |

It is with a terrible sense of sadness that I announce the death of Robert on 5th March 2003. In hindsight Robert had been unwell on and off right from the day following his Barmitzvah, 30th November 2002, suffering from a succession of non-specific viral and bacterial infections. He had been to both Great Ormond Street Hospital and Birmingham Children's Hospital, and even been an in-patient at BCH for some two weeks. After treatment for suspected pneumonia he was deemed well enough to go home and was discharged on 4th March. Robert felt unwell on the evening of 5th March and was taken to A&E at BCH at around 7:00pm. He suddenly collapsed at about 8:15pm and efforts to resuscitate him were stopped at 8:53pm. Robert was buried at 4:00pm on 6th March at Witton Cemetery, Birmingham, according to Jewish custom. He enriched the lives of everyone he met, and his indomitable spirit was a lesson to us all. Nick
